BRAZILLIAN TOWN WITH ONLY WOMEN!

t's like the opening gambit of a bad Hollywood romance. A Brazilian town populated only by women has made an appeal for eligible bachelors.
More than 600 women live in the town of Noiva do Cordeiro, south-east Brazil. And most of them are aged between 20 and 35 years old.
Now they have extended an invitation to potential suitors. But don't start packing your bags just yet - any men who go have to understand that this corner of the Brazilian countryside is very much a woman's world.
Woman's world: This image from Noiva do Cordeiro's Facebook page shows two of the town's residents at a party. They have made an appeal for eligible suitors to woo some of their dozens of available young women

Some of Noiva de Cordeiro's women are already married and have families, but their husbands - and any sons over 18 - are made to work away from home and only allowed to return at the weekends.
It means girl power rules in the rural community, with women in charge of every aspect of life - from farming to town planning and even religion.
And residents say their town is that much the better for it.
'There are lots of things that women do better than men. Our town is prettier, more organised, and far more harmonious than if men were in charge,' said Rosalee Fernandes, 49.
'When problems or disputes arise, we resolve them in a woman's way, trying to find consensus rather than conflict.
'We share everything, even the land we work on. Nobody competes with anyone here. It's all for one, and one for all.
'The whole town came together recently to help buy a huge widescreen TV for our community centre so we can all watch soap operas together.
'And there's always time to stop and gossip, try on each other's clothes and do each other's hair and nails.'

But while none of the residents of Noiva do Cordeiro would have it any other way, it has left them with just one problem.
Nelma Fernandes, 23, admits it's impossible for her neighbours - renowned in the region as strikingly beautiful - to find a would-be spouse.
'Here, the only men we single girls meet are either married or related to us, everyone is a cousin. I haven't kissed a man for a long time,' she said.
'We all dream of falling in love and getting married. But we like living here and don't want to have to leave the town to find a husband.'

The lack of eligible batchelors has now led the community's many single young ladies for make an appeal for interested men - but only those willing to adapt to living in a women's world.
Ms Fernandes said: 'We'd like to get to know men who would leave their own lives and come to be a part of ours.
'But first they need to agree to do what we say and live according to our rules.'
Noiva do Cordeiro was born in the hills near Belo Vale, in Minas Gerais state, after founder Maria Senhorinha de Lima was branded an adulterer after leaving a man she had been forced to marry.
She was chased out of town in 1891 after the Catholic church excommunicated her and the next five generations of her family when she shacked up with another suitor.
Shunned by the local population, she and other women who subsequently went to live with them were vilified as loose women and prostitutes, causing them to isolate themselves from the outside world.

NIGERIA'S OLDEST PASTOR DIES AT 114

Indications emerged on Tuesday that the Founder and President of the Gospel Apostolic Church, Pa Samuel Sadela, has passed on.

He was aged 114.

Although a senior pastor in the church reportedly claimed that the man described as one of Nigeria’s oldest pastors could still be receiving treatment in a hospital, he was said to have died in the premises of the church in Lagos.

As of the time of this report at 9.15pm press time on Tuesday, an official statement was still being awaited even as the church was said to have opened a condolence register for the man of God who remained sensational even as a very old man.

Sadela was of the Apostolic stock of Christianity.

His pastoral calling started in 1928 when he visited the famous Prophet Moses Orimolade of the Cherubim and Seraphim Church.

When he marked his 113th last year birthday, the aged pastor had expressed hope to live up to 200 years of age.

He had said “I feel happy to be this old. Actually, I feel like a young man. I still enjoy my meal of Iyan (pounded yam), Eba and bush meat. I sleep whenever I want to and wake up stronger I want to live longer to prove to all that God remains the same as He was in times past. If Methuselah could live for 969 years, God can make me live well beyond 113. If Noah could be 950, it is not too much for Him to make me live up to 200.”

Even if that wish was not granted, Sadela left an indelible imprint in the hearts of his members and admirers around the world.

The cleric, who claimed angels taught him to read the Holy Bible when he was only two years of age, raised not a few eye brows when he married a 30-year-old woman in 2007.

“The Lord is my strength. I am very strong and energetic,” he was quoted as saying after the wedding in Lagos.

According to reports, he first got married in 1934, with the marriage lasting for 21 years, but none of the couple’s seven children reportedly lived beyond their infancy. A second marriage, said to have been consummated in 1965, was blessed with four children, but only two survived. His second wife died in 2001.

A native of Ondo State, Sadela attended St. Paul’s Anglican Primary School, Ifon, Osun State, but had to drop out when he travelled to Sapele, Delta State to work as houseboy to one Captain Pullen, a District Officer. Sadela however retraced his steps in 1918 and completed his Standard six education in 1920.

Meanwhile, reactions from clerics have greeted his death. The Osun State Chairman, Christian Association of Nigeria, Rev. Elisha Ogundiya, in a phone interview with our correspondent, expressed shock at Sadela’s passing.

He prayed that God, ‘will comfort his family.’

Similarly, the founder of Christ Overcomer’s Assembly, Rev. Dipo Filani, described Sadela as a highly respected man of God.

“He was one of the oldest pastors alive in Nigeria. There was a time he said miracles started taking place in his ministry when he was 90 years.

MAN- U DESTROYED 4-0!! DI MARIA'S GOT A LOT TO DO

In less than 50 days, Louis van Gaal has completed the bruising tumble from a World Cup semi-final in the concrete jungle of Sao Paulo to a public humiliation amid the concrete cows of Milton Keynes.
It is what Andre Villas-Boas might call a ‘negative spiral’. On a day when Manchester United spirits ought to have been lifted by the arrival of Angel di Maria for a British record transfer fee, they instead went crashing out of the Capital One Cup.
The performance was feeble and the result was perhaps United’s worst since York City won at Old Trafford in this competition, nearly 20 years ago.
Van Gaal’s first campaign is unravelling at breathtaking speed, although he made every effort to suggest he was unaffected — even unsurprised — by the pummelling.

AMERICAN RAPPER KILLED IN SYRIA

American-born Douglas McAuthur McCain was allegedly killed over the weekend fighting for ISIS in Syria

American-born ISIS militant is killed in Syria: Married San Diego rapper, 33, became radicalized after chatting to jihadists online

An American man was reportedly killed over the weekend fighting for the Islamic State (also known as ISIS) in Syria, NBC News reports.
The Free Syrian Army found the body of 33-year-old Douglas McAuthur McCain after a fight with ISIS, with $800 cash in his pocket and an American passport.
U.S. officials and family members further confirmed the basketball lover and rapper's death.
The San Diego native appears to have crossed into Syria a few months ago, according to posts on his personal Twitter.
Friends and family have now started posting on his Facebook, expressing condolences to his wife and daughter.
McCain was born in southern California in January 1981, but eventually moved with his family to the Twin Cities area of Minnesota where he attended Robbinsdale Cooper High School in New Hope and played on the basketball team.
Old friends at the mostly-white school described McCain as a carefree teen who wasn't very religious.
'He was a goofball in high school,' a classmate told NBC. 'Doug was a fun guy to be around. Played basketball, joked a lot, had a small sense of humor. Got along with most … Wasn't the best athlete, but liked to play.”
Another friend who would go to teen nights at the YMCA with McCain called him a 'good guy who loved his family and friend

Man Rapes Wife in Front of Their 8yr Old Daughter

'I was confused when I saw it. I knew it wasn't right.Jailed: Christopher Birch fled to Spain after being charged with raping his wife and indecent exposure to his step-daughter. He has been jailed for 15 years

A rapist who forced his wife to have sex with him in front of her eight-year-old daughter has been jailed for 15 years after fleeing to Spain.
Christopher Birch fled while on bail following his repeated attacks on Louise Birch over six years.
During one incident, Louise's daughter Sophie O'Farrell had heard her mother's anguished screams and walked in the room - but her step-father brutally continued.
However, when he was due to appear in court charged with rape and indecent exposure in May 2011, he never arrived - sparking a three-year manhunt.
He was still at large seven months later when Louise died after an illness aged just 33 in December 2011.
Today, Sophie, 18, has said she can 'finally rest' as Birch is jailed for 15 years for rape and indecent exposure to a child.
Addressing her ordeal, Sophie, who has waived her right to anonymity, said: 'My bed was right up against her wall, you could hear it.
'If you can hear your mum screaming, then you're going to go in there.
'He [Birch] was stopping my mum from saying anything with his hand over her mouth.
'It's not like he stopped when I walked into the room. He just said "it's ok we're just playing".
'I said something the next morning and my mum said "we were playing".
'There was always something between us after that, and I do blame him for that.
'Now she's dead I can't regain that with her. That is upsetting because he's done that. He's ruined a lot of lives.
'It's hard to rekindle relationships when you know something so horrible has happened to someone.'
Mr and Mrs Birch met in late 2004 and married in December 2005.
After they split in 2007, he sent Sophie, then aged 13, pictures showing his genitalia.
Sophie, of Waterlooville, Hampshire, said: 'It was vile. It sickened me.
'It was disgusting to think that he was meant to be a father to me. That was a big thing to me.'

Family denies late Dr Adadevoh's younger sister tested positive for Ebola

The Adadevoh family has denied reports that the younger sister of late Dr. Ameyo Adadevoh (pictured above) who died of the Ebola virus, has tested positive to Ebola and has been hospitalized.

Despite sources insisting that Amy Ngozi Adadevoh tested positive and has been moved to the isolation treatment centre in Lagos, the family says this is not true.
This information is 100% incorrect. As I am sure you are aware, positive Ebola cases are announced by the Minister of Health. You can check with the official list from the Health Ministry. Amy got a clean bill of health yesterday after her EVD test result came back negative. She left the hospital much earlier in the day and is now home thanking God. The Adadevoh family is well known and very popular and this misinformation is causing a lot of extra grief." A family source told

A MOVING TRIBUTE TO A TRUE NIGERIAN HEROINE - "The Ameyo Adadevoh I knew" - by: Prof Chidi Odinkalu - August 20, 2014

On 21 July, I attended the appointment as agreed. She had completed the rounds where she reviewed the cases, including Mr. Sawyer. She saw me shortly after mid-day. As always, it was professional and detailed. Unknown to me, Sawyer was already in the hospital. Unknown to her, he was already terminally symptomatic with EVD. We managed on that day to do my review and, curiously in hind-sight, fit in a conversation about life, death and dying.

A MOVING TRIBUTE TO A TRUE NIGERIAN HEROINE - "The Ameyo Adadevoh I knew" - by: Peof Chidi Odinkalu - August 20, 2014
On 19 July, I spoke to Ameyo Stella Adadevoh, the senior Consultant Endocrinologist and Physician, who has just died of the Ebola Virus Disease (EVD), to schedule a previously agreed medical review. It was a Saturday. We agreed that I would come in the following Monday, July 21.
On 20 July, Patrick Sawyer, the index case now thought to have brought EVD into Nigeria, was admitted into the hospital where Ameyo worked.
As she would herself later narrate with her Chief Medical Director, Dr Benjy Ohiaeri, Mr. Sawyer, on admission “denied having been in contact with any person with EVD at home, in any hospital or at any burial.” So, on 21 July, Mr. Sawyer was being managed for Malaria. He had tested positive for Malaria parasites.
It would take another day before the full possibility would hit home. By then, she’d probably already had fatal exposure to the virus.
But, once she struck upon the possibility that Mr. Sawyer was EVD-positive, Ameyo “immediately isolated/quarantined the patient, commenced barrier nursing and simultaneously contacted the Lagos State Ministry of Health and the Federal Ministry of Health to enquire where further laboratory tests could be performed as we had a high index of suspicion of possible Ebola Virus Disease. We refused for him to be let out of the hospital in spite of intense pressure.” Her suspicions proved correct.
That is Ameyo! If the occasion demanded it, she could be martial with care and sweeping in her command. She had earned her right to calibrated authority.
The consequences could have been unfathomable if Mr. Sawyer had ended up in a General Hospital, for instance. It required someone with her capabilities and pedigree to be able to take the measures needed to firewall Mr. Sawyer and limit the contamination that he would have inflicted. For that, she paid with her life.
Ameyo became a doctor at 25. She had been my personal and family doctor for over 15 years.
Her roots were both deep and grand. She is one of the few Nigerians the face of whose recent ancestor adorns one of our currency denominations. Her Great-Grand Father, Herbert Macaulay, is one of the most celebrated founders of modern Nigeria. Her father was himself a distinguished physician, academic and university administrator of considerable distinction.
Not that any of this mattered much to her. When Ameyo qualified as a doctor in 1981, I was still a kid in High School. Yet, I could get away with calling her “Ameyo”. To many of the children, she was “Auntie Ameyo”. She simply wanted to get things done, and done right.
That was important to her: doing things right. In her field, Ameyo took no prisoners and tolerated no half measures. If you came to her with issues outside her field, she knew the experts to. If you showed up hoping to get worshipped, you were in the wrong shrine.
There was something about her directness, professionalism, commitment to knowledge and curiosity, and irreverence that made Ameyo deserving of respect well beyond the calling of the cloth. She loved her calling and was totally dedicated to it.
When my kid brother died in June 2006, my Dad suffered terribly. She took charge of his management and inspired him to re-discover joie de vivre. While she battled for her life this past week and more, my Mum and Dad in Imo State joined in the legion of Nigerians who prayed and wished for a different ending. Like many people who had passed through her, Dad’s testimony is quite simple: “that woman saved my life!”
Nigeria is lucky that Mr. Sawyer ended up in the care of Dr. Ameyo Stella Adadevoh and the team she led. A less able lead or a less dedicated team could have let itself and the country down.
Unlike many of her peers, Ameyo didn’t play god. Nor did she celebrate not having read any medical journal after Medical School. On the contrary, she knew her specialty and invested heavily in being up to date with the latest journals and skills in it. She was always honest about where the limits of her skills lay and would happily refer cases to colleagues with the requisite specialty whether in or outside Nigeria. She had one heck of a professional Rolodex!
All of us who had the privilege of ever having been managed or attended to by her would testify that this was a professional of exceptional thoughtfulness, ability, diligence, and application. The many colleagues whom she mentored or supported would too. We’ve all lost an outstanding person, support, redoubt, and professional.
Ameyo had one of the sharpest minds you’d ever meet. She was at home discussing experimental physics, molecular biology, public health, lip-stick, the science behind bra-sizes, or different genres of music. She loved life. She was the mother of a son whom she loved more than life itself and lived with a mother to whom she was devoted. The void she leaves behind cannot be filled. They deserve our thoughts, care and prayers.
Because of the circumstances of her passing, there may be no grave to memorialise Ameyo. This is why we must give careful thought to how to do so. We must hold up and celebrate her example of selfless professionalism to the point of death. And, as a people, we must be grateful that someone like her is still in supply in our country.
Ameyo always had the Hippocratic Oath hung in front of her on the left wall in her consulting room, just beside her certificate. I once asked her why? She said if you don’t believe (in) it you shouldn’t be here. She died true to her oath and calling. Our country owes her a debt we can never repay. She was truly and exceptionally special.

jackie chan's son arrested for drug abuse

Jackie Chan is speaking out after his son, Jaycee Chan, was arrested in a Beijing drug bust last week.
The martial arts legend posted a heartfelt statement on his website, thanking fans for their support and well wishes as well as apologizing on behalf of his son.
"First of all, I'd like to thank everyone for your care and concerns. The recent news about my son, Jaycee, is very shocking and the impact it has caused on society is heartbreaking," the movie star shared.
"When I first heard the news, I was absolutely enraged. As a public figure, I feel very ashamed; as his dad, I'm very sad and disappointed. But the person who feels heartbroken the most is his mom. I hope our younger generation will learn from Jaycee's mistake and stay far away from drug abuse."

NEWS: All the details on Jaycee's arrest
Jackie then went on to send a message to his 31-year-old son, saying, "I would like to take this opportunity and say to Jaycee: you've done something wrong and you have to be responsible for the consequences. I'm your dad and I'll always be with you. We will face the road ahead of us together."
He continued, "I should also take some of this responsibility because as his dad, I didn't teach him well. Therefore, on behalf of Jaycee and myself, I extend our deepest apologies to everyone for the negative impact this has caused on society. Thank you."
Local media reported yesterday that Jaycee was detained after police said he tested positive for marijuana and confessed to taking the drug.
If convicted, Jaycee could face up to three years in prison
